“Community” and “Phineas and Ferb” are among shows that have won primetime Emmys for individual achievement in animation, while “Gettysburg” and “Portlandia” nabbed kudos for costumes for a variety/music program or special.
The honors came in special categories that bypass the traditional nomination-ceremony stages and allow for more than one winner, based on a simple criterion: “Is this entry worthy of an Emmy Award?” Winners received unanimous approval from the jury of professionals for the categories.
